Johnson Begay

CHURCHROCK — Funeral services for Johnson Harrison Begay, 32, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at the Cope Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Begay died Aug. 20, 2011, in Churchrock. He was born Nov. 22, 1978, in Gallup into the Shoshonee People Clan born for the Meadow People Clan.
Begay worked for the city of Gallup for five years. He enjoyed football, car shows, volleyball, riding horses, fishing and carpentry. Begay also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his companion Gloria Touchine, of Churchrock; sons Harren Touchine, Mike Touchine, Travis Touchine, all of Churchrock, and Mike Touchine, of Albuquerque; daughters Rosanna Touchine, of Churchrock, and Hilary Touchine, of San Felipe; father Johnny Begay Sr., of Churchrock; bothers Jonathan Begay and Craig Begay, both of Churchrock; sisters Berlinda Begay, of Phoenix, Ariz., Merlinda Martin and Derlene Begay, both of Churchrock, and grandparents Kenneth Begay Sr. and Johnny Owens Sr. Begay was preceded in death by his mother Juanita Owens and grandmother Alice Begay.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Begay, Dewayne Begay, Lue McCorkey, Myron Martin, Jonathan Begay and Delbert Brown.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Churchrock Chapter House.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.

Murphy Ewton

GALLUP — Services for Murphy Gene Ewton, 70, will be announced at a later date.
Ewton died Aug. 26, 2011, in Santa Fe. He was born Nov. 7, 1940, in Gallup.

Raymond Garcia Sr.

GALLUP — Funeral services for Raymond “Ray” Garcia, 76, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at St. Francis Church in Gallup. The Rev. Larry Bernard will officiate. A rosary will be recited at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at St. Francis Church.

Garcia died Aug. 24, 2011, in Casa Blanca. He was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Albuquerque.
Garcia worked at Gallup Auto Sales and Rico Auto Complex until his retirement. He enjoyed golfing with his friends and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Garcia was a member of the “Chain Gang” for the Gallup Bengals and enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys.

Survivors include his wife June Garcia, of Gallup; sons Raymond Garcia Jr., of San Angelo, Texas, Dominic Garcia, of Albuquerque; daughters Debbie Stalcup, of Gallup, Patricia Romancito, of Chandler, Ariz., Catherine Mitchell, of Gallup, Stephanie Gonzales, of Gallup, Diana Moore, of Aurora, Colo., and Donna Padavich, of Gallup; brother Alfred Garcia, of Old Laguna; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Vicente Garcia; mother Alice Garcia and sister Lillian Garcia.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Kie-Poncho, Elias Garcia, Andrew Starr, Brandon Starr, Dominic Starr, Joshua Starr, William Padovich, Kory Padovich, Jeremy Romancito, Jason Romancito, and Shaun Varnado.

The family will receive family and friends at the Knights of Columbus hall in Gallup.

Stacey A. Peshlakai

KIRTLAND — Funeral services for Stacy Anna Peshlakai, 22, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at the St. Michael Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Defiance Cemetery.

Peshlakai died Aug. 24, 2011, in Farmington. She was born July 12, 1989, in Fort Defiance into the Towering House People Clan for the Waters Edge People Clan.

Peshlakai went to St. Michael Middle School, Window Rock High School and Newcomb High School. She worked at Mi Casa, Applebee’s, Foot Locker, Subway and Bath and Body Works. Peshlakai was involved in Girl Scouts and enjoyed reading, traveling, writing poems, dancing and playing basketball.

Survivors include her parents James Peshlakai; brothers Steven Peshlakai and Kevin Milford; sisters Shelby Peshlakai and grandmother Irene Long.

She was preceded in death by her mother Laura Peshlakai; grandfather David Long, John Peshlakai Jr. and grandmother Rosie Marie Peshlakai.

Pallbearers will be Willard Price, James Peshlakai, Steven Peshlakai and Darryl Long.
The family will meet at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the St. Michael Chapter House.

Lee Tyler Sr.

IYANBITO — Funeral services for Lee Tyler Sr., 93, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Mark Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Tyler died Aug. 24, 2011, in Gallup. He was born June 28, 1918, in Red Valley, Ariz., into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the Many Hogans People Clan.

Tyler served three years in the South Pacific in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from the Fort Wingate Army Depot after 45 years.
Survivors include Larry Tyler Sr., Chester Tyler, Oscar Tyler, and Lee Tyler Jr.; daughters Jennie Alonzo, Lucy Tyler, Shirley Martin, and Julia John; brothers Leo Barber Sr.; sisters Mollie Y. Russell and Betty Yazzie; 33 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Leland Tyler, Julian John, Donovan Alonzo, Duane John, Derek Tyler and Darnell Tyler.
